Spell Casting

 Spell Casting

Is the use of skill roll to produce a desired effect, all spells are trained skills and can not be used at  the untrained value. The following is a list of basic spells: spells are intelligence based skills and  count as priest or mages skills depending on the character's design.

Spell Casting

Degree: is the amount of Willpower a Mage or Priest chooses to use to power the spell. Spell  casters can cast up to spell skill level degree every time the spell is cast. Unlike regular skills, spell  skills can be sed at varying degrees. All spells effects are based on the degree the spell is cast. The  degree is the same for all effects of the spell and adds 1 identical effect for each degree. This  mechanic allows the Spell Caster to stretch out or conserve his Mana points. IE.. Ranged attack at  degree 3 would have a range of 30’, Cost 3 mana points, and do 3d6 damage and requires ranged  attack skill 3.

Range: is the maximum distance in feet away from him the spell can take effect. Not all spells are  capable of use at range. Range is 10’ X the degree of casting.

Area of Effect: (AOE) is in the size of the radius in 5’ increments the spell effect covers. Radius  encompasses the target and spell caster choses radius placement.

Damage over Time: (DOT) is the amount of damage each turn done by the spell effect occurs  at beginning of the target’s round.

Cost: is the number of mana points the spell removes from the casters current total. (mana points  cannot willingly go negative) Cost is the base X the degree of casting. (always round down) 1d6  damage is taken for each negative mana point.
